So remember that giant square hole we dug? Well, we filled it in with a giant box. Check it out!
This is our Head mason laying the first stones of what will eventually be our Bridge!
Finishing the "Foundation" for the Foundation Tier. This is a level
surface that provides a good base for the box to be built on.
The Mason was placing rocks by himself for the first few days, but the
rest of his crew arrived soon after and progress started moving fast.
A couple of days later, the walls of our Foundation Tier on the Bandar
Side were done. The next step was to fill it with rock in order to
provide a solid support for the next box that would be built, the First
Tier.
To fill the Foundation Tier, I called in the support of a few friends.
Stephen, Jeanette, and Kristina came out to spend the weekend with me
camping on site and throwing rocks into this monstrous box. This was
our first tier to fill, so we kind of used it as a learning experience
to determine the best method. using a combination of Large Rocks, Sand,
and Gravel, we managed to fill this things completely in about a day
and a half.
Resting. Because we were tired. Really, really tired. I think we ended up going to sleep at like 7pm that night.
With the Tier filled, the Mason and his Team were able to cap it with
concrete, setting a level surface on which the next tier would be built.
