Ground has been Broken!

It’s been quite some time since my last update, of which I apologize profusely. Throughout the trials and tribulations of this project, I managed to fall off the face of the earth so to speak.  Well, I’m excited to say that I’ve found my way back, and not only that, but I come bearing some incredible news!

Late last week, our project team finally broke ground on construction of the future Bandar Bridge!  Progress commenced with the excavation of a beautiful and humongous four meter by five meter hole on the near side of the river.  Today, a group of villagers began digging out a similar hole on the far side. These holes will be the locations of our Foundation Tiers, the base of the structures that will support our bridge.

Delivery of the construction material has gotten under way as well.  We’ve already got 9 cubic meters of rock and 27 cubic meters of gravel on-site.  Another 27 cubic meters of sand are set for delivery on Wednesday, and more rock will follow suit soon after. On Thursday, Alan plans on delivering the first ten of our 250 bags of cement, and that same day, I’ll head out to the project site early in the morning to accompany our team of masons and get them started on laying some stone.

As the momentum starts to build, my team and I are once again reminded of the incredible outpouring of support from our friends and family back home.  It’s because of your generosity and encouragement that we have been able to make it this far.  For that, we are extremely grateful.

Thank you for assistance, love, and inspiration.

Warm Regards,

Will
