The Team

Comissão da Ponte de Bandar:

The Bandar Bridge Commission, or Comissão da Ponte de Bandar, is composed of three members (male and female) from each of the three beneficiary communities.  Those serving on the Commission are responsible for representing the general opinions of their communities and providing feedback during the planning and implementation phases so as to ensure the final deliverable is something their community not only needs, but wants as well.

United States Peace Corps:

In addition to the Bandar Bridge Committee, US Peace Corps Volunteers will be responsible for general oversight of construction.  Peace Corps is a Grass-Roots development agency within the US Government working at the community level to alleviate poverty.  Initiated by Former President John F. Kennedy in 1961, over 200,000 volunteers have served in over 139 countries worldwide.  Peace Corps has been active in Mozambique since 1998 working primarily in the Education and Health Sectors.  William Zweig and Anna Weaver are Education Volunteers in the city of Montepuez in the northern province of Cabo Delgado, where they teach Physics and Chemistry, respectively, at local high schools.

William’s true passion is engineering for developing communities, and prior to serving in the Peace Corps, he earned a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on International Development, both at the University of Colorado – Boulder.

Anna Weaver, master of all things science and then some, was brought on board to assist with fundraising efforts and to serve as a community liaison.  As enthusiastic as she is intelligent (and trust me, she's pretty sharp), Anna adds her high energy and hard-working mentality to a driven team.

Boa Nova Para Africa:

Alan Howell, Community Liaison
Alan Howell is a local Missionary here in Montepuez who has spent the last 10 years working in the Villages that surround our city. Sponsored by the Donelson Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee, he and his Wife Rachel make up 1/4 of the Boa Nova Para Africa Team.

The Promeetto Association and Nederlands Albert Schweitzer Fonds:

The Promeetto Association is a Mozambican run, nationally registered NGO that was founded in 2012 with the goal of promoting grass-roots development programs that improve health and combat poverty on the community and individual level. Some of their recent work has included the construction of public latrines and the translation and distribution of community health resources, particularly in regards to HIV/AIDS and Malaria.

Promeetto is supported by the Nederlands Albert Schweitzer Fonds, and we've partnered with them both in working towards accomplishing our goal.

With Additional Support From:  Bridges to Prosperity, Bridging the Gap - Africa,

The Bandar Bridge Project Team has been working alongside Bridges 2 Prosperity (B2P) and Bridging the Gap – Africa, both International NGO’s that specialize in the construction of rural Pedestrian Trail Bridges.  Both are providing technical support, all the while working directly with William to produce a design for the bridge, a project timeline, and a plan for material procurement.
